Vicky Albertson is a Registered Nurse, a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist, and a Master Licensed Diabetes Educator. She has been in the Diabetes Education Program since June 2014 and Program Manager for the Diabetes Program since 2022. She is a trained Lifestyle Coach for the National Diabetes Prevention Program. She will be responsible for delivering diabetes education across Clinton, Cumberland and Russell Counties, as well as coordinating related programs aimed at diabetes management and prevention. She is a member of the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists, and the Kentucky Diabetes Network. Vicky was a Licensed Practical Nurse from 1987 until she received her Associates Degree in Nursing from Somerset Community College in 2010. Vicky worked in home health for 9 years before she came to LCDHD in 2002 – working in the Clinic as well as the School Nurse program before transferring to the Diabetes Program. Vicky’s office is located at the Clinton County Health Department in Albany.

Janet Cowherd is a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist, and a Master Licensed Diabetes Educator. She is also a trained Lifestyle Coach for the National Diabetes Prevention Program. Janet earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Kentucky in 1992. She has been employed with the Lake Cumberland District Health Department since 1997, where she has worked in both clinical settings and the School Nurse Program. Janet is responsible for delivering diabetes education services across Adair, Casey, Green, and Taylor counties. In addition, she coordinates programs focused on diabetes management and prevention to improve community health outcomes.
Amy Huff, RN, BSN, LDE

Amy Huff is a Registered Nurse, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and a Licensed Diabetes Educator who joined the Wellness Outreach and Education Program in July 2022. She is working towards obtaining her Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist. She is a trained Lifestyle Coach for the National Diabetes Prevention Program. She will be responsible for delivering diabetes education across McCreary, Pulaski, and Wayne Counties, as well as coordinating related programs aimed at diabetes management and prevention. Amy received her Associate Degree in Nursing in 2002 from Eastern Kentucky University and her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing in 2017. Amy worked in a long-term care for 20 years as a nurse before transferring to the Diabetes Program. Amy’s office is located at Wayne County Health Department in Monticello, Kentucky.

Amber Ritterbach is a Certified Community Health Worker (2022) and a Diabetes Community Care Coordinator (2023). She is a trained Lifestyle Coach for the National Diabetes Prevention Program. She is trained as a Kentucky Prescription Assistance Program Advocate. She helps connect people in our community with available resources, and reinforces diabetes education, and helps coordinate programs aimed at diabetes management and prevention in all 10 counties. She previously worked at a staffing agency which led to her becoming a contract employee at LCDHD in 2019 when she began working in our wellness program doing the biometric screenings, and contact tracing for Covid. She then was moved full time into the Diabetes program as a Certified Community Health Worker. Amber’s office is located at Wayne County Health Department in Monticello, Kentucky.
