Sam Price is a 2002 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University where he obtained a Bachelor’s of Science in Environmental Health Sciences with a minor in Chemistry and obtained credentialing as a REHS (Registered Environmental Health Sanitarian).
Mr. Price has been employed with the Lake Cumberland District Health Department since 2003 as Health Environmentalist and carries the responsibilities as regulator of food safety and environmental health in the Commonwealth of Kentucky; training new environmental health employees; and supervising and directing the activities of internship students. His role as Retail Food Specialist and Emergency Rapid Responder has allowed him the opportunity to serve areas of Western Kentucky and areas of the Deep South, including Mississippi and Louisiana during natural disasters as a part of promoting food safety and overall environmental concerns.
For close to two decades, Mr. Price has been involved in food safety education throughout the Lake Cumberland Region. Through workshops, seminars and conferences, he’s shared his passion of food safety and engaged the community to spread the importance of education throughout the food supply chain. His commitment to Public Health and to improve the education process has, in part, been the catalyst to provide a uniform, convenient and affordable means of food safety training and certification.
In 2021, Mr. Price was named Preparedness Manager for the Lake Cumberland District. As program manager, he is responsible for writing and updating response plans as well as assisting in the design of preparedness, bioterrorism, infectious disease and other public health emergency exercises to test and integrate plans with other emergency and disaster response agencies in our area and throughout the State.
