Beat the back-to-school rush– schedule your child’s immunizations today. To book an appointment or for more information about the immunizations, please call the Pulaski County Health Department at (606) 679-4416. Medicaid is accepted. Immunization records must be brought to the appointment. A legal guardian must be present.

WIC is a supplemental food program that provides nutrition counseling, breastfeeding support, education, nutritious foods and referrals to healthcare services. WIC improves the health of pregnant, breastfeeding, postpartum women, infants and children up to age 5.
The Kentucky Health Access Nurturing Development Services (HANDS) program is a voluntary home visitation program for any new or expectant parents. HANDS supports families as they build healthy, safe environments for the optimal growth and development of children.
LCDHD offers Breastfeeding Support services, including access to our breastfeeding coordinator and peer counselors. Learn more about the services we offer expectant mothers and join us in the effort to promote successful breastfeeding.

Before August of 1952, the Pulaski County Health Department was located on Main Street in Somerset, Kentucky. Dr. Carol Norfleet was the Health Officer. In February of 1951, plans were announced to build a new health department on a 1.4 acre lot at the intersection of Market and Church Street. Ground was broken for the new health department in September, 1951. The new building opened in August of 1952. The cost of the building came in at $102,000.
In 1971, the Pulaski County Health Department moved in to the building on Bourne Avenue (which is currently the headquarters of the Lake Cumberland District Health Department’s administrative offices). The Pulaski County Health Department became one of five counties including McCreary, Wayne, Clinton and Cumberland that comprised the Lake Cumberland District Health Department. In 1982 the Counties of Adair, Casey, Green, Russell and Taylor joined the district bringing the total member counties to ten.
On May 9, 2000, the Pulaski County Health Department said its good-bye to the building on Bourne Avenue and opened its new and current facility located at 45 Roberts Street.
The Pulaski Health Department offers a wide variety of preventative service — just to name a few, family planning, health education, prenatal care, women’s cancer screening, tuberculosis control and environmental services.
