Pedestrian & Cyclist Safety

Did you know that you have the power to help make our streets safer for pedestrians? With a little effort and attention to safety measures, we can all play a role in reducing the number of pedestrian fatalities due to motor vehicles in the United States. Whether we’re walking or rolling to our destinations, we can make a positive impact. Even small actions like staying alert, slowing down when approaching crosswalks, and making eye contact with drivers can make a big difference. Together, we can help create a safer and more enjoyable travel experience for everyone. Check out the safety tips below to see how you can make a difference today!

Maps & Resources for Bikes and Pedestrians

The Kentucky Division of Planning developed this interactive map to depict a statewide inventory of bicycle and pedestrian facilities. These facilities include, but are not limited to, sidewalks, bicycle lanes, multi-use paths, crosswalks, and mid-block crossings. The inventory depicted on the map contains inventoried facilities on all state-maintained routes in addtion to some local roads, maintained by counties and cities.

Layers on the interactive map include:

  • Bicycle and Pedestrian Facilities
  • Full length Multi-Use Paths
  • Designated United States Bicycle Routes (USBR 21, 22, 25, 35, and 76)
